As of today there are still a couple of days left of this February’s New York Fashion Week, and wow! This week has definitely brought surprises with it. We could go on and on, but our biggest concern is of course catching the eyewear fashion trends hitting the runway ahead of spring. Here are three of the styles we have our eyes on at NYFW 2016:
- Futuristic meets vintage
It’s no surprise that vintage frames are back in style. Everyone has seen thick browline and cat eye specs strolling down the streets. However, this New York Fashion Week we’re seeing something out of this world. That’s right, vintage frames are going futuristic. Cat eyes with modern bling, oversized shades that look like something out of the newest Star Wars film, steampunk specs gone wild, etc. This year eyewear is going back to its roots, with a nod to the future.
- Colorful lenses
It seems like every time rounded specs are in, so are colorfully tinted lenses. Whether that’s because of John Lennon or not, this NYFW has definitely proven they’re a fabulous trend that comes around time and time again. That’s not going to be changing any time soon.
- Pastels are out, earthy tones are in
In 2015 pastel colored frames were all the rage. In 2016, everyone is chilling out a little, and many are becoming more one with nature. That is, at least nature inspired colors. NYFW eyewear has been filled with browns, greens and blues. Have you been picturing yourself walking around Houston wearing green tortoise shell frames in a vintage style? You’re ahead of the game!
