3 Reasons Athletes Should Wear Sunglasses

This summer whether you’re a sailor, golfer, mountain biker, runner, baseball player or play another sport we hope you get outside and go your hardest, after all… practice makes perfect.

However, before you hit the trials, make sure you’re geared up, most importantly with a quality pair of athletic sunglasses. Not sure why you need sunglasses? Let us explain with our top three reasons athletes should wear sunglasses this summer:

  1. Sunglasses block sunlight
Okay, this one is a given. But did you know, too much sun damage to your eyes can lead to sunburn (on your eye!), macular degeneration, cataracts and blindness. Ouch! A nice pair of athletic polarized lenses cut the blinding glare you get with certain activities. These are especially great for water sports, golf and driving. Or for those bikers out there who are riding through sun and shade, don’t forget to look into transitional lenses to keep your vision at its peak.
  2. Sunglasses help prevent eye-injuries
You know the saying, “It’s better than a stick in the eye.” We hope none of you can ever honestly use that expression. Wearing sunglasses is an excellent way to help protect your eyes from sticks, dirt, rocks, other athletes’, etc. This is especially true for those of you who like to take your athletic skills out into the woods or up into the mountains.
  3. Sunglasses boost performance
In general, having the ability to see clearly will greatly improve an athlete’s performance. Sunglasses promote this by blocking out intrusive sunbeams. In addition, if you invest in a pair of prescription sunglasses not only will you be blocking the sun, you will also be able to see with the clarity of your regular prescription glasses or contacts without needing either. Furthermore, athletic sunglasses like Adidas’ eyewear line also offers other performance boosting features. They are aerodynamic, lightweight and come complete with non-slip features. Even when you’re working your hardest, you be sure these glasses will be on your side every step of the way.

All in all, no matter what sport or outdoor activities you get up to this summer, protect your eyes and boost your performance with a quality pair of sunglasses so you can continue leaving your competitors in the dust for years to come (hopefully they’re wearing their sunglasses too so it doesn’t get in their eyes).
